The following are letters we have received from Tubeho orphans in response to the generous support they have received from people like you.
Dear Friends of Tubeho,
I am very grateful for your support and I wanted to thank you for your
generosity. Surely, it was miraculous to hear from [Chairman of the Board]
Alexandre telling us the good news that he and others created Friends of Tubeho to gather funds to help members of the Tubeho Association to pursue their education. We were astonished to learn that !!! I would like to tell you that I had spent two years without hope of studying again in a near future. Thus, I appreciate your support and I study hard in Kigali’s Independent University where I study a degree of management and economics. I am now with others doing our final exams and we are trying to perform well.
I wish you all the best for your continuing support, we promise to be
serious and not to disappoint you and the members of Tubeho Association who trusted our commitment and resilience.

Je m’appelle Jeannette Kayitesi et je suis boursière de Friends of Tubeho (FoT).
Je voulais vous remercier beaucoup pour votre générosité et de soutenir
l’initiative de FoT. Vous avez sauvé ma vie ainsi celle de mes chers amis
boursiers de FoT. En ce qui me concerne, j’étais stressée en pensant à ce
que j’allais devenir sans avoir une éducation avancée, parce que je suis née
dans une famille où l’un de mes parents était un enseignent. Avant le génocide, mon père me parlait toujours de mon avenir, il me disait que mon avenir sera construit sur la base de l’éducation. Il me disait toujours les mêmes mots dès que je rentrais de l’école. C’est pourquoi moi aussi je dois répondre au souhait de mon père même s’il n’est plus là pour me dire encore ces mots. Aujourd’hui, c’est à moi de faire l’effort pour mieux avancer et grâce à FoT, je trouve que je vais bientôt atteindre mon objectif parce que je trouve que je commence à recevoir le bénéfice de mes études en comptabilité. Je pense que je servirai bientôt mon pays avec toutes mes connaissances et que je serai capable d’aider les autres qui sont dans la même situation que la mienne, voire pire. Je vous remercie encore avec tout mon coeur en vous assurant que je vais me montrer digne de votre confiance et générosité.

I am Elise-Rida Musomandera, one of the recipients who received financial aide from FoT. After having seen the importance of your assistance, I wanted to thank you. Really my heart opened up thanks to your generosity. I recognize all you did for helping me to find the way towards my future studies. I thank you for your kind assistance and gift that allowed me to pursue an education I could not get otherwise.
I have lived a difficult life. I even had no hope for my future for so
many days. I was afraid that the mission of the ‘Interahamwe’ who killed my
family would be successful. But with your assistance, I have the hope that their mission failed. I now attend class without any problem. Again thank you, because you helped me to convince myself that the genocide failed. “Who saves only one life, saves the world”; this is what your assistance does. Your generosity has a great positive impact on many people’s lives. I promise you that, at the end of the year, I will show you interesting results. Thus, all of us will taste the fruits of your assistance.

Premièrement je vous salue au nom de Jésus Christ. Je profite de cette
occasion pour vous écrire cette lettre pour vous dire merci. C’est vous qui
essuyez mes larmes. Avant de recevoir une bourse de FoT, je n’avais vraiment
pas l’espoir de continuer mes études, mais Dieu m’a montré qu’il y a des
personnes qui pensent à moi. J’étudie en 6ème année secondaire
en biochimie. Mes études vont bien et je retrouve petit à petit mes reflexes
d’étudiante parce que durant les 5 dernières années je n’avais pas
d’espoir d’étudier. Mais je sais que Dieu nous aime et c’est pourquoi il
a fait des miracles pour nous à travers vous. Je vous remercie de tout cœur.

Je m’appelle Emeline Gahongayire. Avant de reprendre mes études grâce
à la bourse que vous m’avez donnée, j’étais dans la sollicitude parce que
cela faisait 4 ans que j’étais à la maison. Maintenant je suis contente et
je vous remercie parce que mon problème a été résolu, je fais tout ce qui
est possible pour bien réussir.

vous faites.

I am Alexis from TUBEHO Association and one of the beneficiaries of
your support. First of all I would like to thank you for your good heart. Two
years ago I completed secondary school, but since then I never had the
possibility to pay the school fees for myself nor did I have sufficient grades
so that the government supports me in a national university. Thus I was in a
position where I could not complete my education. I tried to find jobs but I did not get any. Therefore, I was thinking how I can work for myself in business since I lacked the resources. Furthermore, I was not even able to work with the bank because the little my family had was destroyed during the genocide. I was starting to lose hope because I couldn’t see any breakthrough. But now, God shows me his hand when I got a scholarship thanks to you.
Thanks to your support, I am studying in Kigali Independent University and I am specializing in management and economics. Now, I have hope for my future and I promise you that after receiving your support I am working hard. With all my competence and dedication, I hope to [graduate with] distinction. And I can tell you that the good heart you showed me, is a good gift and example to follow. This is why my own heart will be there for the others who are in need each time I will have the possibility to do something for others.

Je suis biens heureuse de
vous écrire cette lettre pour vous exprimer mes remerciements distingués basés sur votre contribution dans la préparation de ma vie future. En effet, mes chers amis, comme j’avais perdu mes parents et mes amis pendant le génocide, je n’avais aucun espoir pour ma vie future. Pendant le génocide j’avais 9 ans et j’étais en 3eme primaire. Après le génocide, j’ai pu continuer mes études pour terminer mes études secondaires et puis je suis restée 2 ans à la maison sans travail ou moyen de continuer d’étudier à l’université.
Bref, je me sentais insignifiante à la maison parce que je n’avais
aucune participation dans ma famille surtout que je vivais avec mes deux sœurs et que nous manquions de moyens pour vivre pour nous tous. Maintenant, grâce à la contribution de FoT, je suis capable de planifier un projet futur parce que je compte bien recevoir après 4 ans une licence qui me permettra de trouver un emploi dans une société ou une compagnie. De plus, je parviens à nouveau à formuler des projet pour moi en utilisant les connaissances obtenues grâce à votre générosité.
Mes amis et en même temps amis de TUBEHO, c’est impossible pour moi de vous exprimer tous mes sentiments émotionnels par écrit, mais sachez que je vous remercie chaque fois quand je me réveille, quand je prie et quand je pense à nos bienfaiteurs. Je suis contente de vous écrire cette lettre pour vous exprimer mes
remerciements suite à votre contribution dans la préparation de ma vie future.
En effet, j’avais perdu mes parents et mes amis pendant le génocide. Je
n’avais aucune visée quant à ma vie future. Pendant le génocide, j’avais
17 ans et j’étais donc en 2ème secondaire. Après le génocide,
j’ai pu continuer mes études pour terminer le lycée et puis je suis restée
2 ans à la maison sans travail ni les moyens de continuer mes études à
l’université.
Je me sentais inutile à la maison parce que je ne pouvais pas contribuer
à soutenir ma famille. Maintenant Je suis capable de planifier un projet [pour
le] futur parce que je compte trouver un emploi après mes études et aussi je
suis à nouveau capable de concevoir des projets pour moi.

l’Association TUBEHO construite dans le district de Gasabo. Maintenant, je
suis l’une des élèves qui a pu continuer ses études grâce à vous. Je suis
en 6ème secondaire au lycée. Avant de pouvoir continuer mes études,
j’étais vraiment misérable, j’étais renfermée et sans emploi, maintenant
cela n’est plus le cas. Je tenais à vous dire que je suis reconnaissante et
que je n’oublierai jamais ici-bàs votre générosité.

I spent three years at home without job when I was waiting God to answer my request due to desire of studying. I started evening classes at Kigali city (languages) Secondary School, so I thank you again and Friends of Tubeho for your support. You dried my tears, for that reason I will never forget you in my life for that assistance. I will try to follow my courses to the best of my abilities and I will succeed. I believe it and I trust in God. I wish to continue studying in one of Rwanda’s universities because in Rwanda today it is not enough to have a high school degree. I will continue to update you about my education.
